The Sincerity

“Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel.” - Philippians 1:15-17

If “Let God Be True & Question You!” sounds attacking, especially with its exclamation mark following, then maybe it is time to “Question You”. If the statement does not lead to a humble acceptance in us, but rather a proud resistance, then “Question You”.

In like manner, in declaring such a statement, or any truth from God’s word, or in the proclamation of the gospel, you may find that you are being opposed by others who would have it another way. If you should receive their opposition as an attack against you, and you engage in an ‘I am right, and you are wrong battle,’ remember that it is “Let God Be True”. The scriptures say, “They are of the world, therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” (1Jn. 4:5-6).

We preach Christ and not ourselves. We preach God’s word and not our own. We preach out of love for God and love for our fellow man, and not in contention out of love for self. Don’t get caught up in saying the right thing the wrong way, but in both speech and conduct, in every facet of our lives “Let God Be True & Question You!”
